Hey! I’m Samantha Berg a licensed clinical social worker and the owner of Feel It To Heal It Counseling, a dream that came to life in 2023 and continues to grow in ways I could have only imagined. I’ve been in private practice since 2020, and in January 2025, I was thrilled to expand my vision by bringing on two close friends to join the journey. It’s a joy and an honor to be doing work that I love every single day.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University and completed my master’s degree in Social Work through Aurora University’s online program. My early experiences shaped my passion for crisis response and systemic change—I interned at a police department and have worked in crisis intervention, community mental health, and within the jail system with a focus on reducing recidivism.
Over the years, I’ve found my therapeutic calling in trauma work, and in 2020, I developed a deep interest in dissociative disorders. Since then, I’ve actively pursued continued education and training in this area to better support clients navigating complex trauma and dissociation. I’m trained in EMDR and integrate a variety of approaches in my work, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), talk therapy, and somatic techniques.
My goal is to help clients come home to themselves—to build self-compassion, reconnect with their authenticity, and begin to truly live from a place of inherent worth. Growth is rarely easy, and often lonely, but I’m deeply honored to walk alongside so many strong, resilient, and worthy individuals as they heal and transform. I believe the world would be a better place if we all knew just how valuable we truly are.
Outside the therapy room, I find peace and perspective in nature. I love plants and find joy in watching new signs of growth—there’s something magical about the cycles of life. I believe we are nature, and our healing often mirrors its quiet, powerful rhythms. I enjoy walking my dog, Jill (especially along the river walk when the weather is perfect), and I’m always working on new house projects. Recently, I discovered a new love for kickboxing—turns out the bag in my basement is a great stress reliever and an awesome workout! I often enjoy winding down with a good show—comedies, dramas, docuseries, thrillers—I'm always open to whatever’s getting attention. I’m also incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a tight-knit group of friends who fill my life with laughter and connection.
Whether you’re beginning your healing journey or continuing along the path, I’d be honored to be a part of it.

Hi, I’m Maxine Ament, an art therapist with over a decade of experience helping individuals connect more deeply with themselves through creativity, compassion, and holistic healing.
I hold a Master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM, and a BFA in Painting from Kent State University in Ohio. My own art practice has always been a central part of my life—it’s helped me through challenging times, and I truly believe in its power to heal, transform, and illuminate the parts of ourselves that words sometimes can't reach.
My professional journey has been diverse and deeply rooted in service. I began my career working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, facilitating art therapy groups across adolescent, adult, geriatric, and eating disorder/self-harm units. I later developed and launched an art therapy program for a newly opened geriatric psych unit, and eventually transitioned into social work and case management on the same unit. From there, I held leadership roles in nursing homes as both a Social Services Director and Dementia Unit Director, and I spent three years working in hospice care as a Bereavement Coordinator and Art Therapist.
My approach is holistic and integrative, blending art therapy with cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques (CBT & DBT), humanistic and person-centered therapy, transpersonal psychology, and archetypal exploration. I focus on nurturing the mind-body-spirit connection, believing all three must be in harmony for true healing and balance. I often help clients work on self-love, build self-esteem, and transform inner dialogue into something more compassionate and empowering—shifting perspectives to create a more vibrant, authentic life.
In sessions, I use art in two key ways: as therapy—a calming, grounding, healing process—and as a tool for deeper exploration through guided directives that help uncover, process, and express what words sometimes cannot.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mother, a maker, and someone who believes in lifelong creativity. I create art daily and am always exploring new mediums to push my imagination and connect with joy. I also love reading, music, swimming, fashion, and long walks to clear the mind.
I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe to explore, express, and evolve. Healing is not linear, and you don’t have to go it alone—I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your path.
I (Sam) adopted Jill from Anderson Animal Shelter in the fall of 2019, she was 7 years old. Jill and I quickly bonded and I can honestly say that she saved my life. Her timing into my home was perfect as we all know what everyone endured in 2020. Since then it has become clear that she is an emotional support dog in heart and spirit! Jill is attune to human emotion and always open to getting pets to give comfort. Jill typically hangs out in my office, but she will make visits to all clients who wish to see her in the practice when she gets a chance! She may even spend a session in Maxine or Shannon's office with you.
